Bringing together members and colleagues from the research, mental health and education sector, our annual CORC Forum features inspirational speakers, exciting topics and discussions and is the ideal event to expand your knowledge of mental health and wellbeing outcomes for children and young people.

Common Metrics & Active Ingredients – learnings so far

This year's programme featured keynote speaker Professor Miranda Wolpert MBE - Director of Mental Health at Wellcome, a global charitable foundation which supports science to solve urgent health challenges. Miranda spoke about Wellcome's £200 million ten-year priority mental health programme that takes a bold new approach to finding the next generation of treatments and approaches to prevent, intervene, manage and stop relapse of anxiety and depression in young people. CORC is one of a select number of teams commissioned by Wellcome to review the evidence underpinning aspects of these interventions.

National Mental Health Outcomes and CYP MH update

We were also delighted to have Ari Rana (Senior Project Manager at NHS England) and Louise Wood (Programme Manager - Outcomes, Participation & Digital at NHSE) with us during the CORC Forum 2021. Both of them talked about new initiatives that will advance the routine use outcome measures to improve the quality and effectiveness of interventions - identified as a priority area for Children and Young People’s Mental Health Services (CYPMH) and Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT). With a focus on user-centred design and digitally-enabled pathways, new discovery and prototyping initiatives will encompass the collection, communication, quality and usefulness of outcome information.

- Presentation slides are not available publicly on our website but a pdf is available on request to attendees and Ari and Louise are happy to answer further questions. Please email corc@annafreud.org and we will get back to you asap.

Recent developments from CORC - the latest learning, innovations and direction of travel from CORC and collaborators

CORC Director Kate Dalzell reflected on the widening contexts in which we are now measuring mental wellbeing, and what we are learning in considering these outcomes in settings now spanning health, education, school, social care and culture. Kate shared recent findings from CORC’s data and our work with members and projects, as well as news of upcoming developments.
