Overview

The Resilience Doughnut is a simple and practical resilience-building tool that can be easily used by anyone, including young people. It takes into consideration the number of factors that contribute to a child’s development, such as parents, family, teachers, friends and their local community, and shoes external stregnths that interact to influence the development of self-esteem and self-efficacy.

Suitability

Suitable for use with children aged between 11 and 16 years and older young people (17-20 years) for whom adult report is not suitable.

The Resilience Doughnut consists of three difference questionnaires:

  • Resilience Doughnut Strengths measure (Parent Factor, Skill Factor, Family and Identity Factor, Education Factor, Peer Factor, Community Factor, Money Factor)
  • Resilience Scale for Adolescents (READ)
  • Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ)

Scoring and interpretation

The Resilience Doughnut uses a six point Likert scale (Disagree very strongly to Agree very strongly).
